Footing Concrete Volume Calculator

Estimate the concrete needed for a strip or continuous footing from its length and its width and depth in inches — with an optional waste allowance.

How it works

cubicFeet = length_ft x (width_in / 12) x (depth_in / 12) x (1 + waste% / 100). cubicYards = cubicFeet / 27.

Worked example

A 20 ft footing, 16 in wide and 8 in deep: 20 x 1.333 x 0.667 = 17.78 ft3 = 0.658 yd3.

When to use it

  • Footings are ordered by the cubic yard; ready-mix trucks carry about 10 yd3.
  • Add 5-10% waste for over-excavation and uneven trench bottoms.
