Rebar Weight Calculator

Find the total weight of reinforcing bar from the bar size (#3–#11) and total linear feet, using ASTM standard unit weights.

How it works

weight = unitWeight(barSize) x totalLength_ft. ASTM A615 unit weights (lb/ft): #3=0.376, #4=0.668, #5=1.043, #6=1.502, #7=2.044, #8=2.670, #9=3.400, #10=4.303, #11=5.313.

Worked example

100 ft of #4 bar: 0.668 x 100 = 66.8 lb.

When to use it

  • Bar number is the diameter in eighths of an inch (#4 = 4/8 = 1/2 in).
  • Rebar is ordered by weight; add lap-splice length (typically 40-60 bar diameters) to your total.
