Calculate board feet of lumber from thickness, width, length, and quantity.
How it works
Board feet = (thickness_in x width_in x length_ft x quantity) / 12.
Worked example
A 1 x 6 board, 8 ft long: (1 x 6 x 8 x 1) / 12 = 4 board feet.
When to use it
- Hardwood and rough lumber are priced per board foot.
- Use nominal thickness; a 5/4 board counts as 1.25 in.
