Beam Reaction Calculator (Point Load)

Find the two support reactions of a simply-supported beam carrying a single point load.

How it works

R_right = P x a / L. R_left = P - R_right, where a is the distance from the left support.

Worked example

10 ft span, 1,000 lb at 3 ft from left: R_right = 300 lb, R_left = 700 lb.

When to use it

  • The two reactions always sum to the applied load.
  • A load at midspan splits evenly to both supports.
